Transforming professional services industries globally with technology and global talent solutions.

Professionals across industries ranging from legal, finance, accounting and healthcare are racing to transform their professions with technology solutions that radically change the way in which they work, the nature of their work product, and the manner in which they deliver and present work product to clients.

1991 Group provides business advisory services, technology development services and capital funding. We serve professional service firms (law firms, financial services firms, health care organizations), corporate in-house professionals (GC, CFO, CMO), professional technology businesses (Legal-Tech, Fin-Tech, Med-Tech) and early stage technology businesses.

Technology Development Services

1991 Group provides dedicated managed software development teams including a blend of US and India based technology professionals with capabilities ranging from robotics / automation to artificial intelligence:

Robotic Process Automation (RPA)

Software that automates repetitive tasks eliminating the need for expensive human talent to waste time completing tasks manually. Examples include: entering borrower and loan term information into multiple sets of documents; populating a standard legal form of agreement with data contained in a term sheet; email responses to repetitive questions.

Machine Learning

Software containing algorithms that enable software to learn from observing patterns (“training data”) rather than explicit instructions or coded rules. Machine learning based software can learn from:
1) Repetitive manual functions of humans.
2) Volumes of source data and desired results.

Examples include: software that learns to flag emails for FCPA (Foreign Corrupt Practices Act) violation risk based on manual flagging by human reviewers; software that flags consumer credit applications for risk based on the ingestion of 1000’s of historic credit applications and related loan performance.

Data Acquisition and Data Analytics

Software that automates scraping of data from websites and analyzes such data to determine patterns and relationships across retrieved data.

Natural Language Processing (NLP)

Software that processes and interprets large quantities of naturally spoken or written language. NLP is a component of artificial intelligence

About Us

In 1991, the world changed: the world's first website was launched on the World Wide Web; the Soviet Union crumbled, the Cold War ended, and India announced its New Industrial Policy - quickly becoming one of the fastest growing economies on the planet. Many of the disruptive industry shifts we are experiencing today - Software as a Service (SaaS), Peer-to-Peer Sharing, Global Talent Sourcing, Big Data, Social Networks and Platforms - were all born from the transformation that began in 1991.

The 1991 Group serves and invests in businesses that harness those changes to build new models for growth and industry transformation. We provide globally sourced managed teams of technology, legal, financial, and medical professionals to build technology and to conduct ongoing professional support services across the fields of law, finance, accounting and medicine.

1991 Group was founded by Sanjay Kamlani, an internationally recognized expert in the legal technology and services industries and in building cross-border businesses between India and the US, UK, and Europe. He utilizes his expertise and practical business experience across these geographies and industries to ensure that his clients succeed in achieving their business objectives. He has independently advised law firms, businesses and private equity firms globally on business strategy, technology solutions, operations, and acquisitions in the United States, Europe and India.
